Alliance member wins Emmy Award for story on Stafford's Bravest Bulldog

STAFFORD -- Connecticut Sports Writers' Alliance member John Holt won a Boston/New England Emmy Award recently for his story on Stafford High's Jon Gionfriddo, the Bravest Bulldog.

Gionfriddo, a senior at Stafford, is a member of the football team. He doesn't play on the field but he is tough. The Bulldogs, a co-op squad with Stafford, East Windsor and Somers, went 9-1 last fall and qualified for the CIAC state playoffs for the first time in school history.

Gionfriddo attends every home game despite being born and living with a painful, rare skin disease, Epidermolysis Bullosa. The slightest touch or movement can tear Gionfriddo’s skin. The disease affects external and internal skin.
